Superior Jaguares too strong
2020-02-02
It was a disappointing start to the Emirates Lions campaign in this years Vodacom Super Rugby as they bowed out to the Jaguares in Buenos Aires early on Sunday morning SA time.
Their only try was scored by new recruit Andre Warner after a scintillating run by number eight Len Massyn.
It was clear that the opposition was more than a Super Rugby team with most of the Jaguares players who took part in the World Cup in 2019 and can be described as an international side.
The Lions team, full of new faces and debutantes, had to work hard from the start to keep the Argentines at bay, but eventually the dam wall broke with the home-side running in some easy tries in the end.
Young scrumhalf Morne van den Berg looked exciting when he took the field, and managed to speed up the game. Carlu Sadie also caught the eye with some bullocking runs.
Hard work awaits the men from Jozi upon their return to home soil on Monday morning in preparation for their first home game against the Reds at Emirates Airline Park next weekend.
