Touring with the Emirates Lions Down Under Ep3
2020-03-02
The Emirates Lions had a very business oriented day on Monday.
It all started with intense team sessions in the team room of the hotel where game analysis was discussed at length with a lot of senior players giving their input.
This was followed by lunch in the team room after which everyone embarked for training at the Box Hill Rugby Football Club in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne. Box Hill Rugby Club is a premier club in Melbourne with a long and rich history. The bus trip to the field took around 40 minutes.
Melbourne is a bustling city and very much into their sports, however rugby is not a top priority and therefor the Lions players aren’t recognized on the street as they move around in their Lions kit.
Training lasted around an hour and a half.
The day was ended off with the forwards and the backs having separate dinners as is the tradition at the Lions while management had a quiet night on their own. Most of the coaches worked until very late in the night loading clips of games and preparing for the Tuesday training session.
As the game draws closer the focus is clear and everyone is getting in their own zone.
